FAQ
What is the difference from DADGAD?
Only string 3 differs: Open D uses F♯3, while DADGAD uses G3. F♯ supplies the major third of D.
How does Open D relate to Open E?
Open E has the same intervals two semitones higher. Shapes transfer, but raising all strings increases tension on the same set.
Do Standard chord shapes still work?
Many need changing because four strings have moved by different amounts. Use the target notes and check each voicing by ear.
